The Voyageur Trail Association (VTA) vision is to work with volunteers and partner organizations to build a continuous wilderness-style hiking trail from Sudbury through Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay, a distance of some 1,100 km paralleling the rugged Northern Ontario shores of Lake Huron and Lake Superior.

The VTA TURNS FORTY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Help us celebrate from August 24 2013 to August 24, 2014:

Take the 40 kilometre challenge. Record your hikes on this form and send them in at the end of the year. Hike 40k or more and receive a prize.

More ambitious? Take the 200 kilometre challenge:
Carole Blaquiere is planning to hike (in stages) all the way from Elliot Lake to Sault Ste. Marie. Check out her blog and join her for part of the hike. Happening weekends.

Help us hike the whole trail:
We want to have at least one person hike each section of the trail over the year. Check out what has been covered and if you hike an "open" section let Gail Jones (705-942-0768 or 72 McCrea St., Sault Ste. Marie ON P6A 4A3 or jonesgail@shaw.ca) know and we'll note that it's been hiked.

Picture This:
The VTA is developing a photo album of pictures of the Voyageur Trail. Submit your favourite pictures and maybe you will win a prize! The only requirement is that the pictures must be taken on the trail and must be submitted by SEPTEMBER 30 (extended from August 24), 2014 to be eligible for the contest.

Check out the 40th Anniversary News page for more fortieth anniversary news.
