Penewobikong Club Outings
1) If the Trail Captain cannot make the outing, he/she is responsible for a replacement.
2) All hikes/canoe trips are rain or shine. Please prepare accordingly.
3) Pack your water and a lunch, but be careful, someone may want to swap with you.
4) And most important, have fun, and nature will teach you all you need to know.

UPDATE to the GUIDEBOOK DESCRIPTION for this area: Trail description has changed between km 44.0 and 45.5 (eastern end of section), but map remains unchanged.


Trail Conditions (updated January 2012):

Iron Bridge Section:
Melwel Lodge Road (A1) to 2.2km mark CLOSED due to logging that should be finished by the end of March 2012--to Warnock Lake [4.3]: mid-section could use some trimming but good (October 2010)

Warnock Lake to Chiblow Lake Road in Iron Bridge (A2) [9.0]: good (October 2010).

Blind River Section:
Iron Bridge at intersection of Chiblow Lake Road and King Street (A1) to Potamac Valley Road (A2) [4.6] - passable (October 2005) re-blazed from Potomac bridge [3.3] to Brady Mining Camp [ 8.6] in 2008.

A2 from 11.6km mark to Bay Lake sign (A3) [ 14.5] and to 15.5km mark of A3 has MANY blowdowns (January 2012) -- A3 to Whitefish Falls (A4) [19.5] - cleaned and blazed (October 2008)

A4 to Hwy. 557 at Cataract Falls (A5) [24.2] - cleaned and blazed (October 2008) Blue side trail to Whitefish Falls re-blazed (May 2009)

A5 to Hwy around Upper Cranberry Lake (A6) [31.3] - cleaned and blazed (October 2008)

A6 to road north side of Granary Creek (A7) [37.7] cleaned and blazed (June & August 2009). Some blowdown still to be removed - trail, good around these spots.

New section of trail south of Black Lake bypassing water holes on ATV trail, 600m--follow blazes.

A7 to Granary Creek boat launch (A8) [40.6]: Cleaned and blazed (October 2008)

A8 to Intersect Creek [45.5] and the eastern terminus of the Penewobikong Section.- A8 to 42.5km cleaned and blazed (May 2009). Blue trail to first lookout re-blazed and cleared (Oct. 2009). Balance of trail to 45.5 is passable (Aug. 2009).
